The administration of US President Donald Trump reportedly suspended technology-related negotiations with the UK government after expressing frustration over a perceived lack of progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Financial Times<\/em> (FT) reported the talks were halted last week by the US over the two countries\u2019 \u201ctechnology prosperity deal\u201d announced in September when Trump made a state visit<\/a> to the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The news agency noted the deal is designed to increase cooperation between the two countries in areas such as AI, quantum computing and nuclear energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A UK official told FT <\/em>on 15 December the Trump administration is lobbying the UK for concessions across areas which are not part of the technology partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our special relationship with the US remains strong and the UK is firmly committed to ensuring the Tech Prosperity Deal delivers opportunity for hardworking people in both countries,\u201d a UK government representative told CNBC<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
